An (Autumn) Day in the Life of Chelsea Faith

Tomorrow marks the official start of Autumn!

When Los Angeles temperatures drop and nature puts on its colorful display with leaves turning gold and crimson, you know it’s time to get out of town for a fall mountain getaway.

This week, I took my annual trek to the charming town of Oak Glen, CA to visit the shops, orchards, and restaurants. In order to escape the weekend crowds, I snuck in a mid-week photo shoot featuring some of our brand new styles. It gave me the perfect excuse to take the winding roads up the mountain to breathe in the crisp autumn air.

If you love the sights, sounds and scents of fall, then head up to Oak Glen and visit a few of my favorite stops.

1)  First (and last) stop : Mom’s Country Orchards-I place my order for organically grown Mutsu apples which I pick up when I head back down the mountain. This is such a great place to shop for homemade apple butter and jellies - I bought both. They offer samples of everything before you buy, making Mom’s a great place to visit

2)  Up the road a bit is Los Rios Rancho which is S. California’s largest apple farm. This is where we buy apple crumble, pick apples and walk the trails.

3)  How about some homemade donuts made fresh while you wait? We stopped at Snow-Line Orchards  and enjoyed warm cinnamon-sugar mini donuts with fresh apple cider. It was the perfect pre-lunch snack!

4) Our day trip to Oak Glen wouldn't be complete without stopping at Riley's Farm for a delicious lunch at Hawk’s Head Tavern. We enjoyed homemade corn chowder and green apple/pecan salad which really hit the spot. The authentic 18thcentury décor with servers in period costumes, transports you far and away from the busy LA life! (at least for a day)
